During April, 2014 I had the opportunity to encounter two fierce battles for both territory and mating rights. In both battles, the combatants were completely oblivious to what was going on around them. The following are a series of photographs from each of the impassioned engagements:
The Mockingbirds above were observed in Sussex County, Virginia fiercely fighting for 10 minutes before eventually breaking apart.
The two gobblers above were observed in the Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona fiercely fighting back and forth over a 75 to 100 foot area for ~10 minutes of observation (they were engaged before I encountered them).
