Identification: This night-heron has long legs, a thick dagger-like bill and lean body. The adult has a black head with white cheek feathering and head streamers. The adult body is generally a dark sooty gray. The immature has an all dark bill, small white spots on brown wings feathers which also have white leading edges and the chest has narrow brown streaking on white breast.
