White-winged Scoter

Identification: A large diving duck with long sloping forehead, blockish head and dark body. The wings when at rest may show the white of the secondaries which is conspicuous in flight. The female has two white to whitish areas on head, one at the lores and the other at the ear coverts. The male has a white "comma" shaped area at the eye.
