White-winged Crossbill

Identification: Male is red in color with bold white wingbars, black scapulars and long tail. The distinctive crossed bill provides for its name.

I visited the home of Todd Dixon and family in Henrico County, Virginia who had been hosting a male White-winged Crossbill. I was able to capture some images of the bird both at the feeders and again feeding from the top of a pine tree behind the yard.
