Western Sandpiper

Identification: A medium sized dark legged Calidris species.While similar to the Semipalmated Sandpiper it can be usually be distinguished by the longer, finer tipped and possibly drooping bill and even better by its call a high, harsh "cheet". Note the rufous upper scapulars in this juvenile individual.
