Rufous Hummingbird
Identification: male is rufous on crown, tail and sides;
the gorget is bright orange-red but
this is dependent upon light conditions; the chest
is white. The green-backed form cannot be
reliably separated from Allen's Hummingbird in the
field.
Above three (3) photos are of a male in Carteret County, North Carolina as observed on December 16, 2006 at the Reigle Home. |
