Red-winged Blackbird
Identification: Female- Note the upperparts general dark brown coloration lightly mottled with grays and black, the fairly short tail, the light eyebrown, the yellowish-orange coloration at the base of the bill and on the throat and the stocky based yet pointed bill. While not observed in this image the chest and belly are pale but heavily streaked brown-black.
Male- note the overall black plumage, the reddish-orange lesser coverts and the pale yellowish-white median coverts. The bird below is in song and demonstrating normally hidden reddish feathering at the throat.
