Harris' Checkerspot (Chlosyne harrisii liggetti)

The first state record for Virginia

"The subspecies in Maryland and West Virginia (and now Virginia) is Chlosyne harrisii liggetti, which is larger and has duller orange marking on the underside than subspecies found further north. Females typcially have reduced light-orange cells and expanded dark areas on the dorsum, which you specimen shows."- Dick Smith
