Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos)

Identification: The Grizzly can be differentiated from the Black Bear by the large hump between the shoulders. Both bears can appear similar in coloration and size when no comparitive situation allows and their ranges may overlap. Their name is derived from the grizzled or silver colored hairs which may be present on the shoulder area or back.
