Glossy Ibis

Identification: A medium sized long-legged wader with a long brownish decurved bill. In alternate plumage the head, neck, chest and upper back are an irredescent purplish-red color. The lower back and wings are a glossy blue-green color. Note the bare areas of the face are blue-gray with a thin whitish blue coloration above and below the eyes. The legs appear brownish with a possible reddish tinge. The iris is dark in Glossy Ibis and red in the similar White-faced Ibis.
