Eastern Meadowlark

Identification: Birds are typically found in open pastures and fields. They are chunky birds with short tails and rather long bills. The bright yellow chest with the distinctive "V" of black helps ID the bird. The flanks are streaked and the throat and loral area are yellow. Note the malar area is white where in the Western Meadowlark has a more yellow appearance.
