Eastern Box Turtle

Identification: A common for the most part terrestrial turtle, the domed dark brown carapace with yellow or orange mottling and the dark brown neck and head spotted yellowish-orange give the species away. The males may have red eyes and the females have yellow. When frightened or threatened they will withdraw their limbs and head within the shell.
